The Sefer Torah is the cherished legacy
of the Jewish nation. The writing of a Torah Scroll is Mitzvas Taryag-the
613th commandment. Tiferes Stam commissions reputable Sofrim (scribes) in
Eretz Yisroel to write Sifrei Torah in all price and size categories. The
necessary time span for writing a Sefer Torah is approximately one year. We
have countless Torah scrols available in various stages of completion to accommodate
the needs of those organizations or individuals requiring earlier completion
dates. We will oversee the writing project from beginning to end.
All of these Torah Scrolls are written on natural uncoated
parchment. All Torah scrols are proofread and computer inspected to ensure
their quality. We have been writing and coordinating Sefer Torah projects
for the past eighteen years and Boruch Hashem recommendations from our satisfied
clients have been our greatest source of advertisement and referrals
Sefer Torah Sium Celebration

Our generation has been privileged to witness the dedications of hundreds of newly written sifrei Torah.

commandment of writing a Torah scroll.
How Much Should A Sefer Torah Cost?
The price for a new Sefer Torah varies from as low as $25,000 to as high
as $50,000. The penmanship, spacing and consistency of letters will vary
from Sofer to Sofer ranging from poor although acceptable, to excellent.
This attractiveness and uniformity of K'sav is a major determining factor
in the cost of the Sefer Torah.
The Sofer
The Sofer (scribe), who will be writing your Sefer Torah is the most integral
ingredient of the Torah Scroll. The Sofer must be a Yorei Shomayim (G-d fearing)
and a person of extreme integrity. He should also be knowledgeable in the
halachic (Jewish law) requirements of the Sefer Torah and it's script. Each
letter should be properly formed, shaped and properly spaced so that no two
letters touch in accordance with the Halacha of Hakofas G'vil. The Sofer should
be an expert craftsman as well, for the task of writing a Sefer Torah is difficult
and complex.
The Parchment
The parchment, or Klaf as it is called, used for the Sefer Torah, is made
from the hides of an animal of the Kosher species. The most preferable quality
parchment is Shlil, the hide of the embryo or a newborn calf. The surface
of the Klaf should not be coated or glazed. Approximately sixty-two hides
are needed for a complete Sefer Torah. The average size of a newly written
Sefer Torah is between 17 to 20 inches however, smaller sizes are available.
